It seems we’ve been away a little while now. What have we been up to you ask? Well, quite a lot actually. We have scoured the earth for the best new bands available to man and found three that we think that fit the bill rather nicely and should take Pronoia into the second half of our debut decade rather nicely. In no particular order…
Firstly we have fabulous Italian four piece Still Leven who we discovered at the end of last year thanks to a demo we got sent by the band themselves (see, these things do still happen). We loved the demos so much we’ve decided to release their debut album Cases of Bluntness later this year.
Second on the list are London based post-rock 3 piece Great Medical Disaster who manage to mix the guitars of Pink Floyd with the soundscapes of Mono while throwing in the ferocity of Mogwai. A fearsome beast indeed.
And third to be added to the roster this year are brilliant The Chrysalids from Manchester. Formed in the late eighties, the band crafted fantastic pop songs which reminded you of Echo and the Bunnymen and Scott Walker. Unfortunate timing (the Madchester bomb exploding) meant that their album has up to now remained unreleased. Later this year we will be putting out this great missing album in all its full glory.
Check out the Jukebox for some taster tracks of all three of these great bands.
